Differences between manga and anime

Unlike the previous episodes, there are heavy changes to the plot in this episode, obviously to straighten the story and win time. While I approve of some changes, others seem odd to me. At the very least, it's regrettable to see a number of small things missing, such as the interaction between Hiwatari and Busujima.

This episode roughly and approximately covers chapters 58 to 63, but it's not so easy to draw the line due to the unusually extreme changes.

Character apparances:

  • Shousei Sakaguchi is introduced in this episode. In the manga, he appears much later.

  • Chitose Tateyama is introduced earlier in the manga.

  • In the manga, Shuusui was not re-introduced at this point of the story, but appeared only near the end.

  • Maruyama's, Inukai's and Busujima's introductions and their roles are different from the manga, where all of them appeared in the scene that also introduced Hiwatari, Negoro and Ikusabe. In the manga, Maruyama and Inukai fought the trio, while Busujima appeared in a number of small scenes with Hiwatari.

  • At the end of the episode, Kazuki and Gouta run into Hiwatari and Negoro. In the manga, it was Maruyama and Negoro.

Additional scenes:

  • The meeting with Sakaguchi and the other high ranking Renkin Sendan members is a new scene which was not in the manga at all.

  • Chitose's order to recruit a group against Victor is a new sub plot.

  • The scenes between Chitose, Shuusui, and the rest of their team are original.

Missing scenes:

  • In the manga, after Tokiko's narration, Tokiko, Gouta and Kazuki are attacked during the night by Maruyama and Inukai. While Kazuki and Gouta defeat Inukai, Tokiko injures Maruyama gravely, causing him to retreat. Tokiko is hit by Maruyama's busou renkin, Bubble Cage, and shrunk to action figure size.

  • She falls down a cliff and finds herself seperated from Kazuki and Gouta, but is picked up by Papillon and Angel Gozen. Papillon contacts Kazuki on the phone.

  • Gouta wants to take Inukai's kakugane and leave him to die from his severe injuries, but Kazki convinces him to show mercy. Gouta is left to wonder who of them is the real monster, Kazuki or the Renkin Sendan.

  • All of this is missing in the anime.

  • In the manga, Papillon is in the city when he runs into Genji Ikusabe, who is alone. They go to a run-down quarter for their battle. In the anime, they meet on a country road, where Hiwatari and Negoro are with Ikusabe, but leave him behind to fight Papillon. Naturally, in the anime Tokiko is not present, as she has never been seperated from Kazuki and Gouta.

  • Several small scenes between the Renkin Sendan are also missing.

This list is not guaranteed to be complete and may be updated later with further differences between manga and anime.

If you have any comments, corrections or think that a crucial difference was forgotten, please feel free to inform me.
