Summary

The ressurection of the mysterious traitor whom Bravo has come to hunt down is drawing near.

Along with Angel Gozen, Kazuki, Tokiko and Captain Bravo launch an attack on the headquarter of L.X.E.

But when they arrive at the place, they find the house abandoned. The only one left to welcome them is Moonface. While Bravo remains to fight him, Kazuki and Tokiko rush back to the city, in search of Dr. Butterfly.

They soon notice that something is wrong. A thick fog is spreading through town, and the shock comes when the two realize that Dr. Butterfly has chosen Kazuki's school as the place for the traitor's ressurection. Kazuki and Tokiko must hurry and defend the students from the attacking homunculi.

Compared to the manga...

This episode covers the chapters 35 to 38. There are only minor differences between manga and anime, one of them affecting the little scene of Papillon eavesdropping on Dr. Butterfly and Moonface. We still get to see him grab into his special place, but it's not nearly as disturbing as in the manga, where he is holding one terrified L.X.E. thug's head with the other hand. At crotch-level. In a way, I regret the lack of this detail in the anime... On the other hand...

Opinion

This is merely the beginning of the final battle against L.X.E., which will probably be three episodes long. But even though it's just an intermediate episode, it's quite enjoyable to watch, with some neat comedy and pretty nice action scenes. Kazuki's friends also get to do something, and finally, the episode ends on an exciting cliffhanger.
