Episode 15: Intermediate Existence Air date: January 10th 2007 Channel: TV Tokyo Length: ca 24 minutes
Summary To Tokiko's shocked surprise, Kazuki's kakugane is revealed to be a black kakugane like Victor's, and in the heat of the battle, Kazuki activates its powers and changes into a form that greatly ressembles that of Victor himself: glowing green hair and dark skin.
The two seem evenly matched now, and a horrific battle ensues in front of Tokiko's and Papillon's eyes. And even though the worst can be averted and in the end, the school is safe, the state of Kazuki is a cause of new worry.
New characters: Gouta Nakamura
Additional voice cast: Rikiya Koyama as Victor Tomokazu Seki as Moonface Shinji Kawada as Gouta Nakamura
Compared to the manga... This episode covers the chapters 46 to 48 of the manga. An addition is that we see Bravo fight Moonface. The entire battle, or rather what was shown of it in this episode, was not in the manga at all. In the later visit to the beach, not only has one JoJo's Bizarre Adventure hommage from the manga been left in, even Bravo's surf board bears the same incorrect writing as in the manga: Blavo.
Opinion Seeing more of the battle Bravo VS Moonface is nice on the one hand, but on the other it does not really contribute too much, and it feels like a bit of time was wasted. After all, we have already past the middle of this anime, and there are only eleven more episodes left to cover the rest of the story. But apart from this personal paranoia, I enjoyed myself. The battle between Kazuki and Victor is fun to watch in all its brutality, and the aftermath foreshadows a new and exciting situation.
ED2: Itoshiki Sekai by Aya Kagami After the first ending song, which was essentially a love song which could reflect the relationship between Kazuki and Tokiko, we now get a new ending, and this time it deals exclusively with Papillon. The vocals are a bit eerie or eccentric, and kind of dark, so that fits. The song sort of grew on me over the days, and I generally approve of having an entire ending dedicated to Papillon. This just stresses that he is an important, central character.
