Busou Renkin // Original title: 武装錬金// (pronounced: Busou Renkin Doubleslash) Release date: October 30, 2006 Author: Kaoru Kurosaki
A novel based on the Busou Renkin manga.
The title is sheer brilliance, in my opinion, not just because there are endless jokes that can be made about the word "doubleslash". The cover layout is exactly that of the manga, and if you don't look too closely, the // could easily be mistaken for an 11 - almost as if this is an eleventh volume of the manga.
The novel was written by Kaoru Kurosaki, a professinal writer who already worked on the Busou Renkin manga along with Watsuki. She is a close friend of him, and in all likeliness even his girlfriend. So I am sure she is qualified to write the novel, even though I sadly cannot comment on the quality, as I have not, and annot, read it.

Busou Renkin /Z: Yumemita Rakuen Original title: 武装錬金/Z: Yumemita Rakuen Release date: May 25, 2007 Author: Kaoru Kurosaki
The second Busou Renkin novel. Again, the title /Z can easily be read as a number, this time 12. The subtitle, Yumemita Rakuen - possibly translatable as "the heaven we dreamt of" is reflective of Gun Blaze West's final chapter, which was named "Waiting for you at the place we dreamt of", a woeful good-bye to the story. I don't dare to hazard a guess whether Busou Renkin /Z will also be the very last installment of Busou Renkin, because the series has surprised me many times in the past. For the time being, though, it is indeed the last part of the story.
