Chapter 4: Dead Body and Revenger 4
First release: March 4 2008, in Jump SQ 04/08 Length: 31 pages Colour pages: none
When Robert Weiss arrives at the glass house with the unconscious Edel, Fury and Shade are still fighting. While he prepares the creation of Frankenstein Edel, Weiss speaks of the world he envisions: everyone will be Frankensteins, and live happily together under his reign. He seems a bit crazy there.
Shade deals Fruy a powerful blow, and Fury falls to the ground, seemingly defeated. Weiss comments on Shade's power, and calls him a high-quality Frankenstein. Then he turns back to his machine, and waits for the lightning to strike and charge it, so that the process of turning Edel into a Frankenstein can take place.
But suddenly, Fury speaks again. He has gotten back to his feet, and is slowly advancing on Weiss. He tells him that Weiss is insane and that he will take his revenge on him. But Weiss merely expressed his mild regret that Fury won't agree with him, and wonders aloud how he had managed to defeat the Frankenstein earlier. But then he simply says that he already tested his skills on Wraith, so he has no use for Fury, and orders Shade to kill him. Shade attacks Fury, and Fury blocks and wrestles him.
Just when the lightning is about to hit the machine, Fury grabs Shade and pushes him towards it, yelling to Weiss that this is how he could defeat the other Frankenstein. They hit the machinery just when the ligtning impacts, and everything gets destroyed.
Weiss, and Fury (carrying Edel) escape the glass house. Weiss is devestated, staring at his destroyed, burning laboratory. Fury, on the other hand, is revlieved that he could save Edel after all. But suddenly, he finds himself surrounded by the mansion's employees, Alfred, Jacob, Miranda and others. They reveal themselves to be Frankensteins, and as Weiss orders them to kill Fury, they attack.
Fury is saved by the sudden appearance of Dr. Peaberry, who has arrived with a special weapon: a large syringe containing a fluid that destroys Frankensteins. She takes Edel from Fury, in order to check if she is alright. The next Frankenstein attack is again stopped unexpectedly, this time by Wraith, who has not abandoned Fury after all. He explains that he just went in search of a special weapon against Frankensteins, since he assumed Weiss would keep one just in case his creations would act up against him. He has found a gun, and is shooting the Frankensteins from a window of the mansion.
Wraith tells Fury that he should leave the destruction of the Frankensteins to him, since Fury used to be friends with them. (It's sweet, isn't it? "You shouldn't have to kill your own former friends. Let me do it for you!" That's true love.) Fury, Peaberry and Weiss stand by and watch.
Weiss is scared, since things really aren't going his way. He backs away and suddenly finds Shade standing over him. With new hope, he orders him again to kill Fury and to get back Edel, but it turns out that Shade has been too gravely damaged. He starts walking towards Fury, but obviously not with the intention to hurt him. Weiss shouts at him, reminding him that Shade is indebted to him ever since Weiss helped his dying child years ago, but Shade does not seem to care. Meanwhile, Peaberry instructs Fury to destroy Shade's electrodes in order to kill him for good. Fury meets Shade, who willingly lets himself get stabbed through his electrodes. He dies with a smile on his face.
With no enemies left, Fury turns to Robert Weiss, telling him that he will let him live, out of gratefulness for having saved Wraith, Edel and himself five years ago. He warns him that he should never ever deal with Frankensteins again, though. Wraith takes the forbidden book out of Weiss' hands, apparantly wanting to keep it himself, and asks Fury whether he can move on now that his vengeance is complete, and go with him to London. He is excited and happy, but his expression changes when he sees that Fury is not answering his question, but is talking to Peaberry.
Fury agrees that they cannot leave Edel behind, and that she has to come with them to London. Wraith... stares at them.
